Dr. Kathy Haywood

Veterinarian, Owner

Raised on a farm, Dr. Haywood always wanted to be a veterinarian. She enrolled in NSCU and received a BS in Biochemistry then was accepted into NCSU School of Veterinary Medicine where she received her DVM. After working in Randolph County for 3 years she landed in Montgomery County and has been at Montgomery Animal Clinic for 33 years. Dr. Haywood likes working with dermatology cases and enjoys surgery. Great staff and wonderful clients have made her work enjoyable and meaningful.

Kathy enjoys traveling and fitness. She has one daughter, Addie, who is in graduate school, and one dog, Kona.

Dr. Rebecca Goldbach

DVM

Dr. Goldbach grew up in Chapel Hill, NC but has lived in Raleigh for many years and loves the area. She received her Bachelors in Biology and Animal Science, then received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from North Carolina State University. Dr. Goldbach has a special interest and passion for surgery, especially orthopedic surgery. She has received formal training alongside board certified surgeons in soft tissue and orthopedic surgery and has performed these techniques with great success. She has always made an effort to provide affordable surgical options to pet owners and loves working with them throughout the recovery process. Since obtaining her veterinary degree, she has practiced for several years in general practice and emergency while building her surgical skills.

When Dr. Goldbach is not in the OR, she loves to spend time with her friends and family in the area. She enjoys taking trips to the beach during her weekends off. Her passions include traveling, cycling, running and cooking. Dr. Goldbach has three rescue dogs named Finley, Hudson and Apollo along with one cat, Mufasa.

Mitzi Pritchard

Practice Manager

After graduating from Central Carolina Community College, Mitzi began her career as a Registered Veterinary Technician at Montgomery Animal Clinic. With a desire to further her knowledge in business, she obtained a degree in Business Administration which aided her in transitioning into practice management. Mitzi has been with Montgomery Animal Clinic for 44 years and enjoys seeing new additions to pet families as well as familiar furry faces. Mitzi looks forward to new experiences and the opportunities that each day offers.

Mitzi resides in Biscoe with her husband, Gary. They have two sons and two grandchildren. At home she has four dogs and one cat. In her spare time, Mitzi enjoys gardening, spending time with family and friends and working in her church and community.

Heather

RVT

Heather has been a Registered Veterinary Technician since 2001. She has 29 years of experience in the animal field. Heather came to Montgomery Animal Clinic in 2016. She enjoys helping clients when their pet has a behavioral problem or a nutritional question that needs to be addressed. Heather loves being outdoors and when she isn’t at work she may be hiking, kayaking, or camping with her dog Roanoke. She also has three cats, a horse and two donkeys.

April

RVT

April came to Montgomery Animal Clinic in 2010 as a Registered Veterinary Technician after graduating from Central Carolina Community College. She lives in Montgomery County with her young, dog loving son, Arthur. April has an 8 yr old bearded dragon named Thorn. She enjoys reading and hiking in her spare time.

Hope

Certified Veterinary Assistant

Hope has worked at Montgomery Animal Clinic for 4 ½ years starting as a kennel attendant. Having and eagerness to learn she continued her education at RCC obtaining her certification in Veterinary Assisting and she now works as a Veterinary Assistant. She is currently enrolled in the Veterinary Technician program through Penn Foster. Hope is cross trained so in addition to her assisting duties you may find her filling in up front in the reception area, in the kennel area, or grooming. Hope lives in Biscoe. She enjoys reading, spending time with family and friends and listening to podcasts. She has four dogs Riya, Ewok, Honey and Lucy.

Rene

Receptionist

As an animal lover, Rene loves working with animals. She has been with Montgomery Animal Clinic since 2019. Having over 20 years of experience in customer service, Rene always strives to make sure our clients are happy.

Rene lives in Stanly County with her husband and best friend Dave, her dog Allie and cat Tiny. She enjoys spending time with her family by the pool, on the lake, or just hanging out at home. She has two daughters and two grandchildren and considers life a blessing.

Erika

Receptionist

Erika has lived in Montgomery County since she was 8 years old. She came to Montgomery Animal Clinic in 2019. She loves the people, pets, memories and connections she makes on a daily basis. She has been around animals all her life and loves having the opportunity to work with them each day. Erika has two boys, Raiden and Kasen, along with a dachshund named Opie. She loves spending time with her family and seeing and experiencing the excitement of new adventures with them. Her boys think it is awesome that her job is helping animals and “getting to pet them all day”.

Crystal

Kennel Attendant

Soon after graduating from West Montgomery High School, Crystal’s love and compassion for animals brought her to Montgomery Animal Clinic in 2001. Crystal now lives in Moore County with her husband and two boys. She lives on a small farm with cows, chickens, two cats and a dog. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and playing pool.

Jodi

Kennel Attendant

Jodi has been with Montgomery Animal Clinic since 2023. Her desire to care for animals lead her to receive a Vet Assistant certificate from RCC as well as a Zookeepers assistant certificate from Animal Behavior College. She hopes to become a Vet assistant in the future. She lives with her six fur babies Charlie, Teddy, Bandit, Toga, Nami, and Ace.

Lauren

Kennel Attendant

Lauren attends Montgomery Early College and will graduate in May of 2024. She has a passion for animals. She enjoys music and art and hopes to continue her education in the animal field where she can help animals in need.

Molly

Veterinary Assistant

Molly is from Asheboro and was raised on a farm where her interest in working with animals began. After graduating from UNCG with a degree in Business Administration, she decided to attend RCC to become a Veterinary Assistant. While interning at Montgomery Animal Clinic she learned of her passion for working with small animals, and has been here ever since. Molly has a horse named Sunshine and a cow named Hungry. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, hiking, and spending time with family and friends.

Kona

Certified Good Baby

Meet Kona. She was born in December of 2016 and was welcomed into Dr. Haywood’s home in October of 2018. She received basic training at Highland Canine. You may see Kona laying around the lab or venturing around the clinic sitting patiently at any treat jar! She absolutely loves newborn kittens and puppies too. She is very loyal and greets us each day with happy wags.
